James Curtis
James Edward Curtis.

James (Eddie) Curtis is a 1946 graduate of Rockport High School. After graduation, James enrolled in college at Bowling Green to become a teacher. What was Western Kentucky State Teacher's college is now Western Kentucky University and James attended that college for three and a half years. He enlisted in the Navy and served his Navy career in Memphis, Tennessee. After two years in the United States Navy, James was honorably discharged. He then enlisted in the Air Force and worked as an Instrument Flight Instructor at the Naval Air Station in Corpus Christi, Texas. After getting his discharge from the Air Force, he joined the Air Force Reserves and served twenty years, reaching the rank of a Major.

He married Bette Carole Tooley and settled in Rockport. His new career was in the mining industry starting with the large Sinclair Mines in Muhlenberg County. After gaining experience and working at Sinclair for several years, James shifted his work to mine safety and worked for the Federal Mine Inspection Department out of a small office in Beaver Dam. He worked as an inspector until retirement. He and Betty made their retirement home in Rockport after raising four children. They now have one granddaughter.

If you are at this point, thanks for reading and being patent. I do enjoy playing with this type script and to have one read and look at what I have come up with is just an extra bonus. This type endeavor certainly gives an old retiree something to do and especially on a cool, wintry day. Anyway, hope you have enjoyed the "Soldier Series". The series is not over, but it has slowed. I have run out of pictures and write-ups and without them, I have no material to continue.

See you......
