Good Morning all.

For starters, I want to thank Mary Jacquline Boyd (Nee Jackie Boone) for sending me this old picture of the Rockport, seventh and eight grade class of 1948. It is difficult to pick out students that a person has not seen in sixty years even though those persons were in the same class. Mary Jacquline had each name written on back of the photo, but time and conditions were not kind to this old picture. She was able to pick out most, I easily identified Billy Welborn and Fred Robinson and Hilma and Betty were helpful in identifying others. As you can see, there are a few more that need to be identified and any help would be appreciated on this accord. I will update the stat if other information becomes available. I also may have the names of some of the students reversed, as in the case of the two girls to the right of Pat Render. Pat is almost hidden, but she is visible and the student on the left in the back row. Again, thanks to Mary Jacquline Boyd for her time and effort in sending this class picture.

Miss Flossie Wilson probably had more teaching time at Rockport than any other teacher. She started teaching in the very early thirties along with Woodrow Park and taught almost continuously until the Rockport High School, on US 62, burned in 1967. Mrs. Edna Robinson may have started a year or so earlier, but she taught at other schools during this period of time. Miss Dorothy Park taught for many years, but she did not start until a few years after Miss Flossie started. Miss Flossie, Miss Dorothy Park, and Mrs. Edna Robinson were teachers when the last school bell rang. The town of Rockport owes them a special gratitude and my hat is off to them for their tenure at Rockport.

Hope you enjoyed
