Small Town Basketball! Young men in good physical shape competing on a
gymnasium floor! Cheerleaders doing their routine in unison. The "Fans" with the Cheerleaders leading them on
with a victorious chant! Well folks, for a small town in the mid-century, it just did not get much better. As a
player, cheerleader, or a fan, events and happenings will forever be etched in our minds. Who could ever forget
Bob Decker cheering for the "Tigers" and being warned to keep off the playing floor. At times, he was so far out
on the gym floor that he probably could have been guarding one of the opposing players. Who could ever forget
going to Sunfish to play in their gymnasium. The Sunfish Gymnasium has a upper level and a few "Happy Fans" would
sing the old song, "99 Bottles Of Beer On The Wall". It seems that they started before the game and continued
after the game was over. That gym was unique in another way. It had two "Pot Bellied" stoves on each side of
the gym and they were used for heating and not decorations. The price for admission was fifteen and twenty-five
cents for regular games with maybe a ten cent increase for a tournament night. Ah, "Small Town Basketball"..
