This 1950-1951 Rockport High School Basketball team reported to practice in September of 1950 and things were looking good. Only two players had graduated from the previous team and that team went to the Regional Tournament. The 1949-1950 team got beat in the first round in the tournament and now they were back for another try. This team had senior leadership, ability to shoot, speed, and a good zone defense. On small basketball courts, this 1950-1951 team was going to be hard to beat. Things went well until Beaver Dam came to town. Beaver Dam, Cromwell and Centertown were just too much for the Tigers. The won-loss record for the 1950-1951 was respectful with twelve wins and eleven losses. The trip to the State Tournament would have to wait for another year. The "B" was coming on strong. They had a 12-10 won-loss record and maybe, just maybe a trip to the State Tournament was looming. We will see...
