This picture is of the 1951-52 Rockport High Basketball Team. For some reason, unknown to me, I had not seen this picture until recently. The story goes that money was collected for the 1952 School Year Album, but the book was never delivered. I have not seen a 1952 Year Book and thus, the story may be true. I just know that the first time that I saw this picture was a few months ago. Wow, neat picture, I thought. Then I looked more closely. There was a doubt that I could positively name all of the players. I questioned myself on number 10 until I decided for sure that it was Fay Fulkerson. I needed a little help on number 22, and agreed that he was Paul Steenburger. The rest were easy for me to identify except for number 6. A lot of the players on this team could not name number 6 and I was beginning to have doubts that I would find someone that would know. L. H. Harper came to the rescue. To the best of his knowledge number 6 is Billy H. Decker. I don't have any reason to doubt the identity. After all, L. H. did furnish the picture. Thanks L. H.

Here goes and start with the very bottom row we have our mascot, John Ed Welborn. He was with the team, it seems, from the time that he could walk (I know run) until he moved to Oregon.

Middle Row from Left to Right-Harold Welborn, Pearl "Slick" Chapman, Jimmy Sheffield, Roy Fulkerson, Jimmy Beck, Delbert Brown, Mr. J. W. Park, Billy Decker(?), Jerry Durham, Aubrey Robinson, Bobby Drake, Claudis Alexander, and James Geary.

Top Row, Left to Right-Lake Saling, Bobby Singleton, Donald White, Paul Steenburger, Darrel Uzzle, Bobby McCoy, L H Harper and Fay Fulkerson.
